With a key requirement for someone leading the technology/infrastructure which drives customer service, this Life company identified it would be difficult to get the skills witin the local market. We undertook an extensive national search with specific core criteria which resulted in a 'big4 consultancy' Director being engaged. An essential element of this process was helping with the candidate's assessment of an unusual opportunity against a strong existing career path. Our consulting input became more necessary as the scope of the role changed during the process.
Reflecting the importance of getting the right appointment after the incumbent had been with the organisation for over 20 years, we undertook a thorough search alongside advertising. With each candidate on the shortlist appointable, an experienced sector specialist CEO, with a reputation for innovation and a belief in community, was appointed. With a strong cultural fit, able to build on the good foundations, the CEO will ensure that the organisation is well positioned.
This high profile investment management company required a Head of Risk advisory. It had been proving difficult to find high quality staff with the right experience for previous roles and a change in approach was sought. We were engaged and, through a thorough search process, a number of potentially suitable candidates were presented and a candidate appointed. Again, an additional candidate for another role in the team was identified, reflecting the strength of the candidate shortlist presented to the client.
This niche global business reached a point where the scale and complexity of the business required a first Finance Director. We worked with the founder to identify the key requirements and shortlisted individuals with the requisite qualities whilst considering the challenging location. There were many key stakeholders in the decision making process, based in different locations, with different perspectives, which required focussed attention. The successful individual has susequently helped to drive the business forward.
This international business had been growing quickly and wanted to further strengthen the management team. A Commercial Director was sought with specific experience in the client's market, in relation to strategic development with key retailers. An extensive, focussed search produced a range of high calibre candidates, with the successful candidate impressing with the mix of large corporate track record and entrepreneurial potential. An important part of our assessment was that candidates were clear on the challenges of such a transition , as much as the opportunities.
The first appointment for the client was as NED for an Insurance subsidiary with a requirement for an Audit Committee background. The second appointment, following the success of the first appointment, was for the Master Trust, requiring a strong Consumer focus. Both required engaging an extensive senior non-exec network within Financial Services, and more broadly, to ensure the right elements of experience and cultural fit were in place.
